Above the Belt, Below the Bush

August 17 – September 28, 2019 **pending funding results

Curated by Minor Hockey (Robin Alex McDonald & Alexander Rondeau)

Above the Belt, Below the Bush is a visual art exhibition that relishes in the extraordinary fusion of queer glamour with the rural aesthetics of Northern Ontario. Collapsing the seemingly stark divide between hyper-masculine cultures and queer/femme textures and materials (including leather, glitter, fluorescents, and sheen), participating artists exemplify how queerness involves ongoing negotiations of geographic-specific visual and cultural codes.

This exhibition will showcase artworks by Adrienne Crossman (Hamilton, ON), Dayna Danger (Winnipeg, MB), Tyler Matheson (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON), Dominic Pinney (Windsor, ON), and Walter Scott (Montreal, QC).
